YEC
About a week ago, I downloaded the physical requirements for the Columbus Police Department, and I've been getting my baseline for each section. There are four sections: push-ups in a minute, sit-ups in a minute, a timed obstacle course, and a one-mile run. I can ace the push-up section, I'm about 5 sit-ups away from acing the sit-ups section, I obviously can't test myself on the obstacle course, and I ran a mile this morning to see how my mile time was.
I haven't run in weeks if not months, so I made sure I warmed up enough. To ace the one-mile run, you have to finish in 6:59 or less. I haven't timed my mile in quite some time, but I knew it wasn't going to be that fast. I finished in 7:50, which I didn't think was too bad. I noticed my lack of endurance about 200m into, but I kept going. I didn't run on a track, so that may affect my results as well. I figure I've got about 60 days before I have to take the test, so I just need to work on that. I'm also going to the beach in a month, so having a little more definition couldn't hurt either :-p
I hardly ever shave with a razor anymore. 95% of the time I just use a beard trimmer to get really close. I end up wth a 5 'o clock shadow every time. I razor shaved when Kaylin was here, and it wasn't too bad. I didn't break out as much as I thought I would, though the razor burn was pretty intense. This morning after I showered, I experimented with using aloe gel on my face before applying the shaving cream. I got pretty good results! The skin around my lips and chin were still a little red, but I'll attribute that to that skin being sensitive anyway, and my beard was probably a little thicker around my chin. I think I'll start doing that every time now
I'm going to Garland this weekend. I'm taking the youth to the Youth Evangelism Conference. I've got 16 total signed up, which is awesome. I need to really step back from the stresses of driving and herding kids and let the conference sink into me. I know the worship and the speakers will be great, so I'm excited.
Yesterday, I told the young adult group I was moving to Georgia. The conversation was somewhat awkward, but I think most of them understood. Leaving that group will be the hardest part of this.
